Jake Jung
Jake’s first students were adult male inmates at a minimum-security prison that he taught while still an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Emboldened by that experience and on the counsel and insistence of those men, Jake joined Teach for America after graduating where he proceeded to work for two years at an elementary school in Houston, Texas. Now in his 11th year of urban education, he has spent the past 9 years teaching and serving in various leadership roles at a middle school in Brooklyn, NY. Jake holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from the Relay Graduate School of Education in New York City and a lifetime Professional Certificate in Middle School Education from the New York State Department of Education. This past fall, he and his partner adopted a Bulldog/Basset Hound mix—a “Bully Basset,” if you will—that’s completely stolen his heart. Her name is Harley.
